Winner of Time Magazine "Person of the Year" 2006 and will never get tired of that joke.
I talk about #retrocomputing a lot. I also do a lot of #gardening and occasionally make #bread and #beer. I was a Unix #sysadmin for 25 years and I'm slowly recovering.
I live in #Melbourne, #Australia and sometimes tell jokes on stages around here. I co-host a #StarTrek podcast with @ThePingMachine
I'm probably making my own life more difficult by insisting on my emoji shortcode naming system for servers. The important ones for today's purposes are:
I really need to start documenting my home network because it's getting to the point where I have VMs running that I've forgotten the exact purpose of, and have to look at the firewall config to see what's forwarded to them to find out.
Oh, I really do need to get a different mouse though. That old HP PS/2 one is ... OK. It's not right though.
I have a non-working Amiga tank mouse but even if I fixed it, it'd still suck and I don't want to go back to the days of cleaning mouse balls.
There are some optical conversion kits for those, I might pick one up one day so I get both an actual reliably working mouse, and the right look.
This is now getting dangerously close to the Amiga setup I dreamed of having back in the day. A few more megarams and a hard drive of some kind and we'll have Serious Business going on.
Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!
Yeah so this is what it takes to get a 27C800 to work in a revision 5 Amiga board because some fool screwed up an address line location back in the dawn of time or something.
There are plenty of solutions involving piggybacking the ROM on another board but for reasons I needed this to have the same profile as the original as I want to piggyback a *different* chip in there now and didn't have clearance.
Anyway, proof of concept here works and excuse the hot glue mess as I needed reinforcement on the joints cos I needed to rewrite it a couple of times.
