Winner of Time Magazine "Person of the Year" 2006 and will never get tired of that joke.
I talk about #retrocomputing a lot. I also do a lot of #gardening and occasionally make #bread and #beer. I have been a Unix #sysadmin for about 30 years but I think I'll be OK.
I live in #Melbourne, #Australia and sometimes tell jokes on stages around here. I co-host a #StarTrek podcast with @ThePingMachine
I really need to replace my damned TV, the glitching is really annoying the crap out of me. On the other hand, I just do not want to go through all the decision making process and actually pay for a new TV. Grr.
I feel like it's even possible to repair or replace some internal board to resolve it, but if I fuck that up or can't do it, I have no lounge TV for a bit.
This is just venting, I'll figure something out, but urgh I just don't need another thing to deal with right now that I can't actually ignore because it bugs me every time I sit on the couch to relax a bit.

Having an i7 CPU with 8 cores in a 2013 laptop feels pretty crazy, but in a good way.
I still don't actually know what I'm upgrading this thing for, I am waiting for a use case to materialise as part of the process.
Woohoo confirmed I can reflash the firmware with l33t hax instead of hardware, so I can put all the screws back in now and deal with all that later.
I want to attach a clip to this small chip to reflash the firmware, and I am absolutely considering cutting into this frame instead of doing a near-total disassembly to access it.
