Chinwag admin, fan of open communication standards, maintainer of communities, male comedienne.
Winner of Time Magazine "Person of the Year" 2006 and will never get tired of that joke.
I talk about #retrocomputing a lot. I also do a lot of #gardening and occasionally make #bread and #beer. I was a Unix #sysadmin for 25 years and I'm slowly recovering.
I live in #Melbourne, #Australia and sometimes tell jokes on stages around here. I co-host a #StarTrek podcast with @ThePingMachine
You should all check out Scotty's Gone Walkabout if you like people hiking and camping, by the way.
I finally got a chance to watch his 6-day NZ pack rafting movie, and it's awesome: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xOIby2graM
It's free to watch but I immediately sent him $10 via his site for it as well because I'd love more like it.
Heaps more videos on his YouTube channel too, and I cannot deny one of the reasons I love this guy intensely is that he'll often walk into the middle of nowhere and suddenly produce an amazing meal and a gin and tonic out of his pack by a fire at night.

Now that all my show and guest hosting commitments have been met, normality is restored, and I'm going back to work next week, I think I might buy myself a thing for an old computer, as a treat.
The Spike Jonze music video for Fatboy Slim's "Praise You" is one of the most perfect pieces of art ever made.
I will not be taking questions on this topic. Just go and watch it again.
I'm totally torn over my lifestyle, I love being around activity and having access to things but I really feel like I'm burning out on cities more and more as I get older.
I keep having this crazy idea about setting up a little shopfront in a rural town where I just fix broken computers and sort out shitty tech issues for people but I don't know if that's even sustainable or whether I'd hate it within a week of starting or what but yeah.
This isn't a post looking for encouragement or anything, just a bit of a random thought I get whenever I've visited country towns lately.
Starting to feel like I need a form letter for sending "I was interested in your project until I hit your dark-theme-only site and couldn't read the documentation" to developers.
